Child laborers in Bangladesh: Victims of poverty and neglect
In Bangladesh, around 4.5 million children are working under hazardous conditions. DW has captured their lives in photos.
Around the world, an estimated 215 million children work on a regular basis. The prevailing view is that child labor must be abolished. But child workers in several countries – for example, in Bolivia – argue there is no alternative for now, and are fighting for their rights.
In my experience, poor people are the world’s greatest entrepreneurs. Every day, they must innovate in order to survive. They remain poor because they do not have the opportunities to turn their creativity into sustainable income.
