Founder Mo Miah, 40, and four trustees went to his home village of Jagannathpur last month to get the project up and running.

The father-of-five has come back elated by the experience which saw 30 students enrolled and three teachers selected.

He said: “Everyone we spoke to, including elders and dignitaries, said they felt indebted and privileged that people from Britain were leaving their families and jobs to come to Bangladesh to help.

“We verified that all the children we accepted for admission were legitimately in need and we hope to have a total of 90 by the end of the year.”
He added that girls as well as boys were included in the intake because “they are the future of our country.”

The charity’s mission is to help prevent child labour and empower young people in developing nations to fulfil their potential through education, vocational training and life skills

Mo determined to do something to eradicate child poverty after a family holiday to Bangladesh in 2012.
