Chapainawabganj village locked down after man dies of coronavirus-like symptoms

Local administration has locked down a village in Chapainawabganj’s Gomostapur upazila after a man died with coronavirus-like symptoms there, the district’s civil surgeon said.

The 46-year-old man died last night in Purba-Shaheb village after suffering from fever, cough and breathing problem, our local correspondent reports quoting Civil Surgeon Dr Jahid Nazrul Chowdhury.

After his death, local administration locked down the village, the civil surgeon said.

The deceased with another local man had returned from Manikganj’s Singair upazila where they worked as day-labourers.

After his death, health officials went to the village and collected samples of the other person and sent those to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital for testing. He was also put in home quarantine, the civil surgeon said.

Meanwhile, local administration of Manikganj’s Singair upazila locked down the municipality area after two persons in the area were tested positive with coronavirus infection on Sunday.
