Krishak Sramik Janata League president Kader Siddique on Monday demanded resignation of the chief election commissioner, KM Nurul Huda, as he made remark that late president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman restored multi-party democracy in the country.
Kader Siddique came up with the demand when he was leading his party in a discussion with the Election Commission at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital as part of its ongoing dialogue with registered political parties ahead of the 11th parliament elections to be held on January 22, 2019 at the latest.
The dialogue started around 11:00am.
The KSJL president walked out of the meeting at the end of the dialogue demanding CEC’s resignation if he (CEC) would not expunge the remark.
Kader Siddique made his stance public at a press briefing after coming out from the meeting.
He said the CEC lost his impartiality by expressing opinion that Ziaur Rahman restored the multi-party democracy during a dialogue with Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday.
The EC’s dialogues with the stakeholders including 40 registered political parties began on August 24, apparently to elicit their views regarding the preparations for the next general election.
On July 31, the commission held the first dialogue with 40 civil society members over the next general election.

The ruling party or main Opposition 0f BNP has not asked CEC to resign for what he said. Some of them considers the CEC has been trying to allure BNP to election so that AL does not have to take the blame ofwinning the poll uncontested.KSJL could argue the issue with CEC as part of the dialogue they have been invited for.He is considered as a ptriotic freedom fighter and awarded the title of ‘tiger’. The people who made a lot of sacrifice for the liberation has never in fact got real democracy as there were hardly any election which can be called free and fair and with the participation of all parties. Bangabandhu’s promised sonar bangla with socialism, secularism, nonalighment and democracy was baffled by every ruling government(elected or unelected) turned to fascism as democratic could not advance. CEC called parties to advise them on holding an acceptable election.Your outburst and deserting the meeting shows that your aging could not give you wisdom but it has accelerated your ego ( ‘I’ sense) and anger which cannot benefit the nation you fought for.
