Like the previous years, the Internet sites have made offers of online cattle market for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, giving a cushion to the busy city dwellers and non-resident Bangladeshis.

According to the information obtained from the entrepreneurs, a consumer needs to place an order 4-5 days before his desired delivery date. They, however, take instant emergency orders in some cases.
Most of the suppliers follow cash on delivery method although there is an option to pay through online banking or credit cards.
“We took this initiative to ensure the farmers fair prices to their cattle and to ensure quality of the domestic sacrificial animal to the consumers. That’s why, we collect cattle from the farmers directly,” Sadequa Hassan Sejuti, Managing Director Future Solution for business (FSB), told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday.
“This year, we will source cattle from Gopalgonj, Tangail, Rangpur and Narsingdi and the cattle would be delivered by the farmers shortly,” said Sejuti.
“We only add service charge along with the farmers’ price and it will range in between Tk3000 to Tk4000 based on the location,” said Sejuti.
She had sold 25 cows in the previous year and during this year she already sourced 100 cows with a target of showcasing 1,000 cows in her shopping portal.
“We provide cattle from the farms directly as we have a good number of farmers, who sell their cattle only during the Kurbani market,” Happy Akter, head of sales of amardesheshop.com told the Dhaka Tribune.
“There are about 150 farmers, who rear cattle under our supervision. We sold 31 cattle last year and it is expected more for this year as the busy people are bending toward the online shopping services,” said Happy.
Our targeted customers are the Bangladeshi expatriate as they are unable to give time to buy their cattle for their relatives as they stay abroad, Syed Mahbubur Rashid Musa, country director of upohar2me.com, told the Dhaka Tribune. We also care the old people as they do not have capacity to do the job and enough man to do the job, said Rashid.
“We don’t have any stock right now but can ensure smooth supply as per their demands and if any one are not satisfied with the cattle he or she can change it,” said Mahadi Hasan, administrator of Banglakutir.com.
There is no separate charge for delivery of sacrificial animal as it is already included with the prices, said Hasan.
This system has made the process of buying and selling of cattle less risky as there is no physical money transaction, he added.
