BNP’s reaction to SQC verdict tomorrow

Dhaka, Oct 1 (UNB) – Opposition BNP will come up with its formal reaction on Wednesday to the verdict in the war crimes case against the party standing committee member Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.

After a meeting with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and party senior leaders at her Gulshan office, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters about the party’s decision.

BNP standing committee members Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, MK Anwar, Rafiqul Islam Miah, Nazrul Islam Khan were, among others, present at the meeting.

Fakhrul said they will come up with their remarks about the verdict at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office around 4pm.

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Tuesday condemned BNP policymaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, MP to death on four counts of crimes against humanity, including genocide, during the Liberation War 42 years ago.

Though he is a party standing committee member, opposition BNP leaders preferred to remain silent on the ICT verdict against Salauddin on the day.
