Opposition leader Khaleda Zia sat with the members of the BNP standing committee, the highest policy making body, on Saturday at her Gulshan office.

The meeting started around 8pm and lasted for an hour and a half.

The meeting centred on PM’s all-party interim government proposal, ban on rallies in the capital and the party’s scheduled Oct 25 rally.

Some members of the BNP standing committee told bdnews24.com that a meeting of the leaders of the 18-Party alliance is scheduled for Sunday night. BNP will clear its stance on PM’s proposal after that meeting.

Earlier, BNP acting secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir briefed the media twice in the middle of the meeting.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her address to the nation on Friday called upon the BNP-led opposition to select their representatives and name them for joining an all-party interim dispensation that, she says, will conduct the polls.

In an instant reaction to the proposal, BNP Acting Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir had said that the proposal had nothing new to discuss about.
