Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy has taken a dig at the Opposition for enforcing shutdown rejecting the Prime Minister’s call for dialogue.
The Prime Minister’s son said the BNP did so because it did not want negotiations on the election-time government.
Speaking to reporters at Shahjalal International Airport on his arrival from the US on Tuesday evening, Joy said the BNP was coming up with different excuses to avert dialogues.
“Though (we) hoped that they’ll come to dialogue, we’re not seeing any sign now.”
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a telephonic conversation on Saturday requested Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia to call off the three-day strike scheduled from Sunday and invited her to Ganabhaban to join a dialogue.
The BNP chief, however, turned down her request and said she was ready to accept the invitation after the strike was over on Tuesday.
On bomb explosion during the strike, Joy, who advises Hasina, said: “We wanted to reach a compromise through dialogue. But the BNP has resorted to terrorism. That is very unfortunate.”
