Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Maudud Ahmed said on Friday that the party would remain in the upcoming city polls in Dhaka and Chittagong till the end braving all obstacles.
‘Obstacles are coming from the government and the Election Commission. BNP, however, will remain in the polls up to the end as many barriers come,’ he said.
The senior leader came up with the speeches before a meeting over the city corporation elections at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan in the capital this afternoon.
This was the first meeting of the party’s Dhaka North City Corporation Nirbachan Parichalana Samanway Committee that started around 3:00pm.
Maudud Ahmed is the convener of the committee.
He alleged that the Election Commission was discriminating against them.
‘The cases of Awami League-backed candidates, according to the news that has come into media, have been withdrawn while the BNP-backed candidates are being harassed and threatened,’ he continued.
Even they (BNP-backed candidates) were being barred to conduct their election campaign, Maudud said.
