BNP supports Narayanganj hartal

The BNP has extended its moral support to a hartal called by Narayanganj lawyers for Sunday, in protest against the abduction and killing of senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and six others.

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement at a press meet at the party chief Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office on Friday afternoon.

He said: “We have lent our moral support to the shutdown and pro-BNP lawyers have already went to the city to make it successful.”

He also issued 10-point suggestion for party members to implement party chief Khaleda Zia’s “organisational red alert” successfully.

Narayanganj Jila Ainjibi Samiti has called a daylong hartal for Sunday protesting the abduction and killing of seven persons including lawyer Chandan Sarkar.

The lawyers declared the program from a rally held in front of bar auditorium in the district on Thursday.

Seven people, including a city corporation councillor were abducted from the city on April 27. On April 30, police recovered their decomposed bodies from Shitalakhya river.
