BNP still has time to join interim cabinet: Suranjit

Senior Awami League leader Suranjit Sengupta on Saturday said still there is time for BNP to join the election-time cabinet and then contest the upcoming polls.

“No threat and movement can stop the election. People are now waiting for the polls. If BNP doesn’t take part, their consequence would be worst than Muslim League…they wouldn’t exist as a party,” he told a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at the city’s Public Library auditorium.

He urged BNP to test its popularity by participating in the polls shunning the path of terrorism.

Suranjit also said the main challenge for the election-time government is to arrange polls in a free, fair, neutral and acceptable manner. “That’s why the officials having clean image must be put in the administration withdrawing the controversial ones,” he added.

Krishak League vice-president MA Karim, among others, spoke at the meeting held with Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote vice-president ATM Shamsuzzaman in the chair.
