BNP polling agents allegedly ousted from centres

Polling agents of BNP candidate Sheikh Rabiul Alam in by-election to Dhaka-10 constituency have allegedly been ousted from polling centres.

After casting his vote at Dhanmondi Government Primary School candidate Rabiul complained to newsmen that ruling party Awami League’s activists drove away his polling agents from centres before 10 am and at least 24 BNP supporters including his several agents have been arrested before polls.

Alleging that he did not get any cooperation from the administration, Rabiul also said at least his five activists and supporters have been injured in attacks by Awami League activists.

By-elections to three parliamentary constituencies — Dhaka-10, Gaibandha-3 and Bagerhat-4 – have begun on Saturday morning amid the threat of novel coronavirus infection.

Over one million people are eligible for exercising their franchise in the three constituencies. The voting began at 9:00am and will continue until 5:00pm without any break.
