Observing that there is nothing to be worried about the next general election, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said opposition BNP is much ahead of Awami League in the polls campaign race.
“The opposition has adopted a dual policy. Although they threatened (the government) with movement, actually they’re preparing for the polls,” he said while talking to reporters after inspecting different roads at Ashulia.
Obaidul cited installation of digital banners, festoons and billboards at the venues of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s rallies in recent times as the proof BNP’s preparation for the polls.
Addressing the opposition, Obaidul said there is no use of any warning or threat to oust the government as the present tenure will end after 20 days. “There’s no alternative to election to go to power.”
Saying country’s people are now election-bound, he urged BNP to join the polls to reflect the people’s will instead of jeopardising the democracy.
The minister also directed the administration to take necessary steps so that no cattle market is set up on highways ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
