BNP leaders’ unpaid loan Tk 10 bn

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said 15 organisations owned by the two sons and brother of the Leader of the Opposition, Khaleda Zia, along with several leaders of her party including two former ministers were yet to pay back loans worth some Tk 10 billion.

The leader of the Parliament was replying to a query from BNP’s reversed seat MP Nilufar Chowdhury Moni on Wednesday.

Hasina said a huge sum of the money borrowed by Dandy Dyeing Limited, Khamba Limited and institutions owned by opposition leaders including Gias Al Mamun was being considered to be bad loan.

“Dandy Dyeing Limited took Tk 401 million alone from Sonali Bank. The whole amount is bad loan,” Hasina added.

The Directors of Dandy Dyeing are BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s two sons – Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Coco, Tarique’s friend Giasuddin Al Mamun, Khaleda’s younger brother late Sayeed Eskandar and his wife Nasrin Ahmed and Mozaffar Ahmed.
