BNP leader Rizvi hospitalised

BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was shifted to Birdem Hospital from the Dhaka Central Jail as he fell sick on Monday.

BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan at a press conference at BNP’s chairperson’s Gulshan office said Rizvi was moved to the Birdem Hospital as he became ill seriously.

He urged the country’s people to pray for his early recovery.

Nazrul alleged that the government arrested Rizvi without any reason, and deprived him of treatment though he was sick.  “We condemn the government’s action.”

On November 30, Detective Branch (DB) Police arrested Rizvi from the party’s Nayapaltan offices in a predawn raid and implicated him in a case filed for torching a bus at Shahbagh that left four people dead and 17 burnt.

Later, a Dhaka court sent him to the jail after rejecting his bail prayer.
