A court here on Thursday sent BNP standing committee member ASM Hannan Shah to jail in a case filed in connection with a vehicle torching.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tareq Mainul Islam passed the order when police produced him before his court after completion of his two-day remand.

The same court placed Hannan Shah on the two-day remand on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a petition was filed with the Metropolitan Session’s Judge Court on Thursday seeking bail for the BNP leader, said his lawyer Joynal Abedin Mejbah.

Plainclothes police detained Hannan Shah from the city’s Baridhara area on Monday night.

Later, he was shown arrested in the case filed with Bhatara Police Station in connection with the torching of a vehicle on October 26.

On the day, miscreants torched a bus of ‘Bandhu Paribahan’ in front of Group 4 (S) (Security Agency) office in the city’s Baridhara area in the evening.
