Police on Tuesday gave the BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance ‘verbal permission’ to hold Wednesday’s grand rally in front of BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan in the capital.
Talking to The Daily Star Tuesday afternoon, Abdus Salam, member secretary of city unit BNP, said they got verbal permission from Dhaka Metropolitan Police but yet to get permission in written.
Earlier at noon, BNP Vice-Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka at a press conference at the BNP head office claimed they were yet to get permission from the DMP authorities to hold the rally.
The former Dhaka City Corporation mayor also vowed to hold their scheduled rally at any cost. “We must hold the rally—no matter we get permission or not.”
