BNP denied Dec 29 rally permission

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) authorities this afternoon denied permission for holding the BNP-led 18-party rally on December 29 at Nayapaltan in the capital.

“The opposition was denied permission,” Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of DMP, told The Daily Star.

Reasons behind the DMP decision could not be known immediately.

Meanwhile, Abdul Latif Jony, assistant office secretary of BNP, said they did not receive any official letters regarding the DMP decision.

“We have learned from different media that we were denied permission for holding the rally on December 29. But we have not received any official letters in this regard,” Jony said.
