The BNP-led 18-Party alliance has announced nationwide general strikes for two consecutive days — May 8 and 9 — from 6am to 6pm.
BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain told reporters on Monday night after a meeting of the alliance leaders that they were protesting the ‘government crackdown’ on Hifazat-e Islam.
