The BNP-led 20-Party Alliance will start a fresh round of agitation, beginning with a black-flag procession protesting Israel’s recent attacks on Gaza.
The party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the coalition’s 13-day agitation plan at the party’s headquarters on Tuesday.
The 20-Party Alliance will hold black flag processions across the country on Aug 16, said Mirza Fakhrul.
That, he said, would be followed by a rally protesting against the new broadcast policy at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Aug 19.
The senior BNP leader said that party chief Khaleda Zia might attend the rally.
The alliance will also initiate mass contact across the country between Aug 21 and 31 as a spadework for a future nationwide agitation to demand fresh polls under a non-party government.
The programmes were finalised by Khaleda Zia during a meeting of the BNP Standing Committee on Sunday followed by one with alliance leaders on Monday.
