A group of workers and employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will enforce an indefinite strike from Tuesday morning to press home their seven-point demand.
They announced the strike Monday as Biman authorities did not take any action to realise their demands including withdrawal of two cases against Collective Bargaining Agent president Moshiqur Rahman, CBA leaders said.
Several hundred workers and employees of the national airlines laid an eight-hour siege to Biman headquarters Balaka in the city from 9:00am to 5:00pm to press home the demands.
During the siege, officials ranked between managing director and deputy general manager were barred from entering Biman headquarters Balaka Bhaban.
Meanwhile, Biman’s acting managing director AM Mosaddique Ahmed and other top officials held a meeting with the representatives of different unions and associations of Biman at its administrative building.
The representatives of the associations and unions told that they do not support such ‘illegal’ strike, claimed a press release of Biman’s public relations department.
Earlier on Sunday night, a group of Biman workers and employees kept the Biman acting managing director confined to his office room at Balaka to press home their demands.
