Biman plane catches fire

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has delayed one of its flights to Hong Kong after one of its wings caught fire during takeoff at Shahjalal International Airport.

”We found some technical glitch at the DC 10 aircraft moments before it was to takeoff. The travel has been postponed considering passenger’s safety,” the public carrier’s Director (Public Relations) Khan Mosarraf Hossain told bdnews24.com.

Authorities said none was injured in the incident.

The flight, BG 078, previously scheduled for 2pm, will start for its destination at 10pm Friday, he added.

DC-10 is a three-engine wide-body jet airliner manufactured by McDonnell Douglas, which never came up with any aircraft after 1988.

No other airline in the world uses such aircraft.
