The Benapole Land Port resumed operation on Sunday after eight days of holidays necessitated by Durga Puja, Eid and weekends.
Benapole check post Customs official (Cargo section) Idris Ali told bdnews24.com that export and import activities through the Petropole-Benapole corridor have fully started.
But the pace of activity is yet to pick up as all employees of Benapole Customs building, Land Port, Clearing and Forwarding agency, and labourers have not yet returned from home.
A huge tailback of trucks laden with goods on either side of the port has resulted from the long vacation.
Export-Import through Benapole Land Port has remained suspended since Oct 11 until Oct 19. Petrapole activities went into suspension a day before Benapole, and Sunday is the weekend at the port.
Benapole’s Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agent Association’s Vice President Nuruzzaman told bdnews24.com that it would not be before Monday that the land port is back to normal.
Benapole port’s Assistant Director (Traffic) Abdul Jalil said the port officials were advised to work hard to make up for the backlog caused by the long vacation.
