‘Bdnews24’ is the seventh top trending search term among Google’s top 10 web search from Bangladesh in 2013.
The search giant recently released the top trending searches for the year – the international and local top charts.
‘SSC result 2013’ and ‘HSC result 2013’ came in at numbers first and second in the top chart of search terms from Bangladesh, according to Google’s annual Zeitgeist report.
‘Bdnews24’ stood out as the only news media from Bangladesh to be among the top 10 trending searches on that list.
The majority of the searches seemed to be triggered by news events, rather than ongoing points of interest.
‘Bdnews24’ breaking the top 10 shows that while 2013 was a year in which big international events caught attention, people also turned to the web to better understand local issues.
Other top search terms were FB (abbreviation for Facebook) which came in as third, Bikroy fourth, Chennai Express fifth, Aashiqui sixth, Agrani Bank eighth, Rupali Bank ninth andEducation Board Result tenth.
Individuals who died this year led the top chart of people searched-for people on the internet from Bangladesh.
Hollywood actor Paul Walker, who died this month in a car crash, came in first on that list, followed by late Bollywood actress Jiah Khan.
Bangladeshi actress Mita Noor was the fourth on that list while South Africa’s anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela, who died earlier this month, came in third. Venezuela’s Socialist leader Hugo Chavez came in 10th.
Bollywood actors and actresses secured positions from fifth to ninth on the list. They are Shradda Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Suraj Pancholi, late director Rituparno Ghosh and Aditya Roy Kapoor.
Google releases its Zeitgeist search list annually to show how trends in search have changed in the previous year.
It eliminates the searches that are the same every year, such as ’email’, to identify the terms that have seen the biggest increase on previous years.
