Bangladesh has expressed its hope to promote trade and investment relations with the CICA member states and project the country using the full membership status.
Bangladesh formally received the full membership of ‘Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA)’ on Tuesday.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, who left Dhaka Monday night for China to attend the 4th summit of CICA, signed the accession document in Shanghai, said a Foreign Ministry media release.
All 25 members of CICA had ‘unanimously’ decided to accept Bangladesh as a ‘full member’ of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures (CICA). Bangladesh had been an observer of the forum since 2010.
The Foreign Minister is leading the Bangladesh delegation at the fourth CICA summit being held in the eastern Chinese metropolis of Shanghai.
CICA pursues multilateral cooperation in the fields of peace, security and stability in Asia.
It can also facilitate trade expansion among the member states, particularly with Central Asian countries.
