Expatriate Bangladeshis working in Saudi Arabia sent the highest amount of $ 259.18 million remittance in July this year.
Of the total $ 1,238.96 million sent in July by the wage earners abroad, the Bangladeshis in UAE sent home the 2nd highest amount of $ 237.00 million, followed by $ 211.70 million from USA, $ 104.41 million from Kuwait, $ 86.71 million from Malaysia and $ 86.24 million from UK, according to Bangladesh Bank data on Wednesday.
The central bank figures also showed that in the month of July, $56.29 million remittance came from Oman, followed by $ 34.50 million from Singapore, $ 34.06 million from Bahrain, $ 29.08 million from Italy, $ 23.52 million from Qatar and $ 7.09 million from Libya.
Of the total wage earners remittance inflow of $ 14,461.14 million in the last fiscal year (2012-13), the highest $ 3,829.45 million came from Saudi Arabia. This was followed by $ 2,829.40 million from UAE, $ 1,859.76 million from USA, $ 1,186.93 million from Kuwait, $ 997.43 million from Malaysia, $ 991.59 million from UK and $ 610.11 million from Oman.
