Nishat Hossain (58) from Bangladesh’s Chandpur died when hit by a speeding van on New York’s Queen’s Boulevard on Saturday.
She was returning from work at a local Macdonald outlet at Forest Hills when a silver coloured van ran hit her and sped away.
When brought to North Shore University hospital, she was pronounced dead.
“My mother could have been saved, if the driver had carried her to the hospital instead of speeding away,” said son Faisal Reaz , with whom Nishat lived at his Jackson Heights apartment.
The Rupasi Chandpur Foundation has arranged for her cremation after autopsy.
Its president Farooq Majumder and secretary Mamoon Miazi insisted this was ‘not an accident but a murder”.
Nishat’s husband freedom Quddus Ali Hossain had died of cardiac arrest on May 8 last year.
