Bangladeshi Nouman wins Gusi Peace Prize

Abul Hasan Mohammad Nouman, a Bangladeshi rights activist, has won this year’s Philippines-based international peace prize ‘The Gusi Peace Prize’, Asia’s foremost awarding body and among the leading in the world.

 

Nouman is one of the 17 recipients of the year. The other winners are from Algeria, Belgium, Nigeria, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the USA, Turkey, Syria, France, Sudan, Gambia, Algeria, the Philippines, Mauritius and Estonia.

 

The annual International Awards Night will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center on November 27 in Manila, Philippines.

 

AHM Nouman won the ‘Gusi Peace Prize International’ for his contributions ‘to poverty alleviation and humanitarianism.’

 

In recognising the most brilliant examples of those working towards the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity, the Gusi Peace Prize brings out the best of human achievements, ideals and values.

 

Nouman is the founder and secretary general of a national NGO, Development Organisation of the Rural Poor-DORP and President of Coordinating Council for Human Rights in Bangladesh (CCHRB) and Senior Vice-Chair of Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh (FNB).
