Anti-Discrimination Student Movement leaders decline President’s invitation to Bangabhaban

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has declined an invitation to attend the Victory Day reception hosted by the President at Bangabhaban.

Traditionally, dignitaries pay a courtesy visit to the President on this day.

This year, several leaders of the student movement were invited, but they have decided to reject the invitation, as confirmed by multiple coordinators of the organization.

Ibrahim Nirab, a central executive member and coordinator of the movement, posted on Facebook at 2:30pm on Monday, sharing a photo of the invitation card.

He wrote: “We demand the resignation of the fascist President Chuppu, whose hands are stained with the blood of our brothers. There is no question of attending his reception at Bangabhaban. On this Victory Day, I reject Chuppu’s invitation.”

The Victory Day reception at Bangabhaban is expected to host the Chief Adviser, Chief Justice, ministers, foreign diplomats, senior government officials, leaders of various organizations, decorated freedom fighters, and other notable figures for a courtesy meeting with the President.
