Two Bangladeshi have been identified who was among nine others abducted from Al Ghani Oil Field south of the city Sirte in Libya on Friday.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli confirmed about particulars of the Bangladeshi national named Mohammad Anowar Hossain, (Passport No.: AE 3630754, District: Noakhali, Bangladesh), said a foreign ministry press release on Tuesday.
It has been informed that initially Anowar was mistakenly identified as Sudanese national having similar name.
Earlier, it was reported that a Bangladeshi national Helal Uddin (PP No. B0156553, District: Jamalpur, Bangladesh) was taken hostage by the militant group from the same incident.
However, Anowar’s identification was confirmed by a Bangladeshi working in a neighboring oil field. Libyan Foreign Ministry informed the Bangladesh Mission that they were trying heart and soul to rescue them, said the release.
After this attack on Friday, 21 Bangladeshis were taken to safe places who were employed in another neighboring oil field. Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli is maintaining constant vigil on the matter.
