After a meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order, its chairman Amir Hossain Amu on Sunday straightway rejected reports in foreign media about a failed attempt to assassin the prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Amu, also industries minister, responding to a question from journalists, said, ‘We did not find any truth of the reports.’
An Indian television channel and a Myanmar news outlet carried out reports prepared by former BBC correspondent Subir Bhaumik featuring unnamed quotes of intelligence sources of both Bangladesh and India. The report claimed six to seven members of the Special Security Force plotted to kill Hasina on August 24 which was thwarted by law enforcers.
