The US ambassador in Dhaka wants to see more Bangladeshi students studying in American institutions to what he has said build “personal bridges” between the two countries.
Dan Mozena was inaugurating an ‘American Corner’ in Rajshahi on Tuesday.
He said his vision was to increase the number of students studying in American institutes “ten-fold” using this Corner. He particularly encouraged Rajshahi students.
The envoy said the number was already going up by over 15 percent a year.

According to the US embassy, the number of Bangladeshi students in US rose by 15.5 percent in the last fiscal, Oct 2012 to Sep 2013, to 3,828.
American has its separate corners or centres in Dhaka’s Dhanmondhi, Baridhara, Sylhet, Chittagong and Khulna.
Mozena said this new facility would be a centre of learning.
“Visitors will have access to the internet, hundreds of books and films, scholarly journals and more, including materials to help students prepare for examinations needed to gain entrance to American higher education.
“Visitors can also learn about our many student and professional exchange programmes,” he said.
A Rajshahi MP Fazle Hossain Badsha, and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Mossaddique Hossain were present among others during the inauguration of the corner.
