New U.S. Ambassador Earl R. Miller arrived Dhaka on Sunday, November 18.
Earl R. Miller was confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on October 11, 2018. He served most recently as Ambassador to the Republic of Botswana from 2014 to 2018.
Ambassador Miller, a career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, joined the Department of State in 1987. He served previously as Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 2011 to 2014. Ambassador Miller also served in Washington, San Francisco, Miami and Boston and at U.S. embassies in El Salvador, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iraq, and India.
Ambassador Miller served at the U.S. Embassy in Gaborone from 1995 to 1998 and was honored to have the opportunity to return to Botswana, one of Africa’s great democratic and development success stories and a strong and valued partner with the United States.
Ambassador Miller is a graduate of the University of Michigan and a former U.S. Marine Corps officer. He is the recipient of the Department of State’s Award for Heroism and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Shield of Bravery. Ambassador Miller speaks French, Spanish, and Indonesian.
