Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam Wednesday expressed confidence that all parties, including the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, would take part in the next general election.
Ruling out the possibility of army deployment in the next parliamentary polls, Ashraful, also LGRD minister of the ruling 14-party coalition government, said: “The elections will be free, fair and credible and all parties including the BNP will take part in it.”
He was talking to newsmen in the sideline of the DCs conference at the Secretariat in the afternoon.
Commenting on the opposition demand of reinstating the caretaker government, he said elections would be held the way it is being held in the other parliamentary democracies.
“After the city corporation polls, the government has already proved that free and fair polls can be held under it,” he said.
