AL pushes country towards confrontation: Farroque

Opposition chief whip Zainul Abedin Farroque on Monday alleged that the ruling Awami League is pushing the country towards confrontation.

“BNP is repeatedly calling for dialogue as it does not want any confrontation. But the prime minister has not taken any initiative yet as she wants to arrange a one-party election,” he said while addressing a discussion at the National Press Club.

Zia Nagorik Forum, a pro-BNP platform, organised the discussion styled ‘No alternative to mass movement to save democracy, sovereignty and Islam, and the caretaker government’.

BNP always wants peace, democracy and good governance, not confrontation, Farroque added.

He urged the government to amend the Constitution bringing the caretaker government bills in parliament by October 24, or else they will be compelled to go on a tougher movement from October 25. “Place the caretaker government bill in parliament before Eid and Puja vacations,” Forroque asked the government.

BNP Dhaka city unit member secretary Abdus Salam also spoke at discussion while President of the platform Md Ibrahim Chowdhury presided over it.
