A court here on Tuesday placed BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on a five-day fresh remand in an arson case filed with Jatrabari police station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haque passed the order when sub-inspector Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman of Detective Branch (DB) and also the investigation officer of the case produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer on expiry of his five-day remand in another arson case.
On January 23, miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a Narayanganj-bound bus of ‘Glory Paribahan’ when it was crossing Khaterpool area, leaving at least 30 of its passengers burn injured.
Of the injured, a man, Nur-e-Alam, 40, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on February 1.
On January 24, sub-inspector KM Nuruzzaman of Jatrabari Police Station filed a case against 68 BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, including BNP leader Rizvi, and a number of unnamed people, for the arson attack on the bus in Jatrabari.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi from a house at Baridhara in the city on January 31.
