The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque and former State Minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman Talukder for grilling.
The two ministers of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s last cabinet were asked to be there at the Commission headquarters in Segunbaghicha on Feb 23 and 24, ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar said on Wednesday.
“They have been asked to come in for questioning as part of an investigation,” he said.
Before the 10th national election on Jan 5, media had reported an unusual increase in the two minister’s wealth and ruling party MPs.
The report was based on their wealth statements submitted to the Election Commission.
The ACC began investigating seven ministers and MPs on Jan 22.
ACC Deputy Director Mirza Jahidul Islam has been given the charge of investigating Ruhal Haque. Deputy Director Khairul Huda is probing the wealth of Mahbubur Rahman.
Haque and Rahman were elected to Parliament in the Jan 5 elections, but did not get a place in the new cabinet.
