Koima to import more BD products

Vice Chairman of Korea Importers Association (Koima) Hi-Hyun Kim has said they will request their 8000-member importers to import more products from Bangladesh, especially the RMG ones.

 

Kim said this during meeting with the visiting Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) trade delegation in Korea on Friday, said a DCCI release on Saturday.

 

The delegation also attended a meeting with Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra).

 

DCCI President M Sabur Khan and Commercial Counselor of Bangladesh Embassy in Korea Syed Nasir Ershad were present.

 

Koima also showed interest to sign a MoU with DCCI for mutual benefits in terms of future bilateral trade and investment.

 

The second meeting was held between DCCI trade delegation and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra).

 

Executive Vice President of Kotra Chang-Heon BAE said that Kotra will co-operate with DCCI members to get the South Korean business partners as a part of their match-making efforts.

 

He also assured DCCI President of providing support for the capacity building of DCCI.

 

Later on Saturday, a DCCI trade delegation met Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry separately to boost bilateral trade relation.

 

Chairman (In-charge) of Seoul Chamber BJ SHIN, Executive Director of Korean Chamber of Commerce Ergo Kim, Director for Asia of Korean Chamber Chol Min Yoon and local business entrepreneurs were present at the meetings.

 

Director for Asia of Korea Chamber of Commerce Chol Min said they will encourage their members to increase their businesses with Bangladeshi businessmen.

 

He said Korean investors are very positive about Bangladesh because some of Korean business houses are quite successful in doing businesses in Bangladesh. He showed keen interest to work closely with DCCI.

 

Sabur Khan said maintaining strong and frequent communication between the businessmen of Bangladesh and South Korea is important for the development of trade.

 

He urged the Korean investors to invest in Bangladesh and importers to import more from Bangladesh and said the exchange of trade delegation can boost trade and investment.
