JS body recommends stopping illegal parking

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry on Wednesday recommended taking necessary steps to end illegal parking of vehicles with a view to reducing traffic congestions in the capital.

 

The recommendation came from the 49th meeting of the parliamentary watchdog held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

 

Committee member and State Minister for Home advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, M Mujibul Haque, Sanjida Khanam and Shafiqul Islam attended the meeting.

 

The meeting suggested the Communications Ministry to take necessary steps to set up adequate terminals for car parking to resolve traffic jams in the capital.

 

It also asked the Home Ministry to improve the law and order situation across the country ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims.

 

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khandaker, director general of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) M Mukhlesur Rahman and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Benazir Ahmed and Home Ministry officials were, among others, present.
