Election offices in Rajshahi, Barisal, Sylhet, and Khulna started distributing polling materials including ballot papers among respective presiding officers of voting centres Friday morning, a day ahead of the mayoral election.
Voting in four city corporations will begin at 8:00am Saturday and end at 4:00pm without any break.
Rajshahi election office started distributing voting equipment and materials at 10:30am.
“We already have distributed 2,86,917 ballot papers and 1,008 ballot boxes to 137 presiding officers from our control centre at Government Laboratory High School,” Shubhash Chandra Sarker, returning officer (RO) for the RCC polls, said.
In Rajshahi, polling will be held at 871 booths of 137 voting centres in 30 wards, our Rajshahi correspondent said quoting the returning officer.
Voters of ward No. 8 will cast their votes through electronic voting machines (EVM), Sarker said.
BARISAL
Authorities in the morning distributed 714 ballot boxes to 100 presiding officers from its control room at Technical Training Centre on CNB road in Barisal city, said Md Mujibur Rahman, the RO for the BCC polls.
A total of 2,10,849 voters were expected to cast ballots to elect the city mayor, reported our Barisal correspondent.
SYLHET
Election authority started the process of distribution around 9:00am from the Alampur office of Izaharul Haque, the returning officer for the Sylhet city corporation polls.
Sixty voting centres out of 128 were given polling elements until 2:30pm, our Sylhet correspondent reported quoting Izaharul.
KHULNA
Mostofa Faruk, the RO for the city polls, has been distributing ballot papers, ballot boxes, stamps and other required stationary to the presiding officers around 2:30pm when the report was filed.
Faruk has been distributing the electoral elements since 8:00am from Khulna Zilla School ground, reports our correspondent covering Khulna city polls.
A total of 4,40,568 voters were expected to cast ballots in the city among which voters of ward No. 8 will cast ballots using EVM in all three centres.
Members of law enforcement agencies were helping the workers carry the boxes and sacks loaded with other materials to the polling centres.
