He goes to Singapore for medical treatment
“The people of the country believe the ongoing political impasse will be resolved through a meaningful dialogue. We also want peace and democracy to be restored and democracy to get an institutional shape… all problems to be resolved,” he said.
Fakhrul expressed his optimism while talking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport before flying to Singapore for medical treatment.
Asked about the UN initiative and visit of its Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Oscar Fernández-Taranco, the BNP leader said, “You all know I’m sick and undergoing treatment. I expect any initiative for resolving the political stalemate will be fruitful.”
Fakhrul sought the blessings of the country’s people for his early recovery.
Later, he along with his wife, Rahat Ara Begum, left Dhaka for Singapore in a regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines around 12:30pm.
On May 6, Fakhrul was released from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) prison cell on bail, nearly one month after his arrest.
Later, he was admitted to United Hospital in the city where doctors advised to go abroad for better treatment.
