The pass rate has decreased 4.3% than the previous year

A total of 87.04% of students have passed in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations.

Some 111,901 examinees have got GPA-5.

This year, the pass rate has decreased 4.3% than the previous year. Last year, 91.34% students passed in the examinations. The number of GPA-5 scorers also saw a decline this year. A total of 142, 276 examinees achieved GPA-5 last year.

The pass rate in Dhaka Board is 88.65% and some 36,801 students got GPA-5.

In Chittagong Board, 82.77% students passed the examinations. A total of 7,116 students achieved GPA-5 in the board.

A total of 84.22% students passed in Comilla Board. Some 10,195 students got GPA-5.

Some 94.97% students passed in Rajshahi Board while 85.05% passed in Dinajpur Board.

In Sylhet Board, the pass rate is 81.82% and some 2,452 students got GPA-5 while 84.37% students passed in Barisal Board and the number of GPA-5 holders is 3,171.

The pass rate in Madrasa Board is 90.20% and 11,338 students secured GPA-5.

Some 83.01% students came out successfully in the Technical Education Board.

A total of 97.66% students passed in eight centres from abroad for the public examinations. Some 292 students out of 299 in these eight centres have passed.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 10am.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina congratulated the students for scoring good results despite adverse political situation.

She said the pass rate would go up if hartals had not been enforced during the examinations.

The minister will formally announce the results in a press conference at the secretariat in the afternoon.

After the announcement, students will be able to collect their results from their respective schools.

Results will also be available through mobile operators’ short messaging service (SMS) and at the www.educationboardresults.gov.bd website.

This year, a total of 1,479,256 students from 27,808 institutions across the country under the 10 educational boards took the examination.

The SSC exams starting date was shifted twice within a week from the original date of February 2 to February 4 and then again to February 6, a Friday, due to sudden nationwide hartals.
