A multistoried residential building in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area has tilted this morning.
The seven-storied building, located in Lichubagan area, has bent over to an adjacent building. However, there has been no casualty according to official statement.
Mostafa Mohsin, senior station officer at Postogola Fire Service and Civil Defence, told The Daily Star that the matter came to fire service’s notice around 9:30am.
“The sixth and seventh floor of the building has leaned over to an adjacent building. Fire fighters have already evacuated everyone and sealed the area off,” he said.
“No one has been injured. Rajuk authorities have been informed. They will carry out inspection of the site,” he added.
Last Saturday, Nepal was wreaked by a major 7.8 earthquake – the tremors of which were felt in Bangladesh. Until now, the death toll has reached over 6,200 there.
The following day, a major aftershock followed – which too was felt in Bangladesh. Experts say that the aftershocks of this earthquake can last for a year.
