At least six journalists were injured when a procession of Islamists shouting ‘anti-Shahbagh’ slogans pounced on them after Friday’s Juma prayers in Chittagong, amidst similar clashes in the capital Dhaka.
The protesters gathered at the Andarkilla intersection of the city soon after the afternoon prayers, according to the bdnews24.com Correspondent.
They attacked the journalists who had gone there to cover the gathering, he said.
Photographers of Jugantor and Inqilab, cameramen of Maasranga, ATN Bangla and ATN News, and the Correspondent of Banik Barta received injuries.
The Inqilab photographer was rushed to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
After the incident, the ‘Islamists’ resumed their protest rally within a police barricade at the Andarkilla intersection.
