The government considers incentives for the doctors posted in the rural areas to encourage them to stay there and serve villagers better, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim told Parliament on Thursday.“We’re thinking of providing incentives…the national council on health affairs will take a decision soon,” he informed the House responding to a supplementary question of treasury bench member Habib-e-Millat Munna during question-answer session.
The Health Minister said considering funds shortage the doctors should have a humanitarian approach to serve the poor people in rural areas.
“There’s no problem for the well-off people to get health services. But we need to think about the poor people,” Nasim said.
Nasim said his ministry will not consider any lobbying for illogical transfer of doctors from rural areas.
