5 burnt in Gazipur petrol bomb attack

At least five people including two children have sustained burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack on a bus near Gazipur Police Lines in the city.

Four other got minor injuries while they jumped from the bus to protect themselves.

The injured are Rakib Hossain, 10, Nurunnabi, 26, Sabuj, 20, Sohel, 34, Manjurul Islam, 32, and Nazmul Hossain.

Quoting locals Joydebpur Fire Service Station Officer Shahin Alam said some miscreants hurled petrol bombs to a bus named Balaka Paribahan in the area around 8pm on Wednesday.

Being informed, fire fighter rushed to the spot and doused the flame.

All the victims were first taken to local Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.

On duty doctor of Shahid Taj Uddin Ahmed Medical Hospital Salam Sarkar said: “Locals took them to our hospital around 9pm. Of them, the condition of Nurunnabi and Rakib are critical.”

“We referred five of them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital,” he added.
