Election at any cost, insists Hasina

The next general election would be held at any cost, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Tuesday insisted reacting to the BNP chief’s call for the countrymen for resisting the polls.
“Khaleda Zia could not stop and will not be able to create any obstructions (towards the election),” the premier said at a Sylhet rally in the afternoon.
Saying the countrymen will vote Awami League again to power, she said, “They (people) want elections. Surely, it will be held.”
Opposition leader Khaleda Zia has repeatedly said that they will resist the election if the caretaker government system was not restored.
Responding to Khaleda’s rhetoric, the premier said a boat never sinks and now it has risen up.
“The boat will reach its destination if the rudder is held by strong hands,” said Hasina, who heads the ruling Awami League.
Khaleda at a Rajshahi rally on September 16 made the humour that the boat (election symbol) of the ruling party will sink to the bottom as it has developed holes.
