Police on Friday filed a case against 40 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir in connection with the explosion of a crude bomb that injured a schoolgirl in the city during hartal hours on Thursday.
Jafar Iqbal, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station, filed the case against seven named and 33 unidentified Shibir activists.
The identified accused are president of city (North) Shibir unit Mashrur Hossain, its general secretary ANM Harun, president of city unit (South) Tarek Hossain, its general secretary Mohi Uddin and unit leaders Nurul Amin, Altaf Hossain and Sohel.
A group of Shibir men blasted several crude bombs while picketing at Hemsen Lane under Kotwali Police Station on the second day of the 36-hour countrywide shutdown enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance on Thursday.
Antu Barua, a Class-IX student of Aparna Charan City Corporation Girls’ High School, sustained injuries in the right eye as a crude bomb blasted while she was going to a attend coaching classes.
