Four vehicles were torched in the capital and Gazipur district on Tuesday evening as a countrywide 36-hour hartal enforced by the BNP-led 18-party is in progress.
In the capital, a taxicab was set on fire at Chowdhurypara under Khilgaon Police Station around 7:15 pm while a minibus of ‘Grameen Paribahan’ at Natun Bazar under Vatara police at about 8:50 pm.
In Gazipur, two buses were set afire in Chandona Chourasta and Bhogra Bypass areas in the city.
Witnesses said miscreants torched a bus of ‘Balaka Paribahan’ near Masjit Market at Chourasta around 7:45 pm while another of ‘VIP Sataish Paribahan’ at Bhogra Bypass at about 8:15 pm.
The opposition alliance enforced the shutdown to realise its various demands, including the release of its arrested leaders and activists.
