The government has decided to send four specialist medical teams to Savar for monitoring the treatment of those rescued from the rubble of the collapsed Rana Plaza and admitted to local hospitals with serious injuries.
Headed by a professor of orthopedics, each of the teams will comprise experts in neurology and nephrology and other disciplines, said Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque on Saturday.
He was addressing a press conference at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in the city.
Haque said the teams will minutely examine the injured to provide appropriate advice on their treatment at the local hospitals.
“If any patient requires better treatment will be immediately transferred to hospitals in Dhaka city, depending on the opinions of the experts,” he added.
Earlier, immediately after the collapse of Rana Plaza on Wednesday, the government sent 10 medical teams to facilitate the treatment of the rescued injured workers, said Ruhal.
